REINALDO FIGUERA
Technical Manager
Reinaldo Figuera is a petroleum engineer with a master’s in Heavy Crude Oil Extraction and more than 19 years of experience in the oil industry. He is an Artificial Lift Systems specialist for light, medium, heavy, and extra-heavy crude oil wells, with solid experience with the planning and execution of enhanced oil recovery projects (IOR and EOR processes). Figuera has held important EOR management positions in medium-heavy oil fields in the Americas, Asia, and Middle East. Currently, he is the Technical Manager for Nakasawa Resources.
Over the years, he has acquired vast experience in planning, coordinating, executing, and following up on integrated projects to improve the productivity of oil assets through special designs and new technologies. This has included subsurface pumps, gas/liquid separators, downhole resistive heating, hybrid completion systems, well automation (smart wells), and chemical stimulation with polymers and surfactants. He has authored more than 10 technical publications and spoken in international petroleum conferences, also serving as an industrial advisor for five bachelor’s and master’s theses in Heavy Oil Well Productivity Improvement.
